New York Women's Self-Defense June 14, 2008 -- Instructor Certification for the Fight Like a Girl module (FLAG). June 15, 2008 -- Instructor Certification for the Girls on Guard module (GOG). Location The location of the Westchester, New York class
is Steve Kardian's Defend University New York facility. It's located at: (you can plug that address into any of the Map Quest type of programs for a map) Schedule The FLAG course will start 12 noon Saturday and run until 6 p.m. that evening. We will have the option of meeting somewhere for dinner afterwards which is great for discussing items that we can't cover in class. The GOG course picks up again the next morning, Sunday, at 10 a.m. We will go through 4 p.m. That should allow you time to get a flight out of New York in the evening so you can save yourself another hotel night. Cost The cost per module is $295 per person. This low cost can realistically be made up by teaching one class (10 students at $30 each) and there are tons benefits for becoming an instructor. Marriott Hotel Airports The Westchester Airport is only about 8 minutes away from the academy. The next closest airport is La Guardia. Equipment We will be working all day on the mats so you should wear long pants and shirts with sleeves. All of the other equipment will be supplied. The course materials will be provided so you can focus your attention on the course. Registration There will be some limits put on the number of participants as well as the number of instructors representing certain regions. So make sure you register early to save a spot. We should have been doing this years ago. The female body is built differently and can be used effectively against a male attacker if trained properly.
