Women's Self-Defense Instructors
Instructor 2 Ryne has participated in running self-defense seminars and demonstrations for various community, school and women's groups. He is a Krav Maga and Iron Skills practitioner. "Unfortunately in today's day and age there is a huge need for these types of programs. I believe all women should be afforded the opportunity to be able to learn how to defend themselves during a violent attack. Not only do women need the physical tools to defend themselves, they need the self-confidence to be able to mentally focus and to not let fear take over. It's my believe that once women develop their physical and mental skills, they feel a sense of empowerment. This empowerment could ultimately save them from becoming victims of a sexual assault. Deciding to learn self-defense can turn you into a survivor instead of a statistic." Some key facts that should be noted:
"I decided to become a Rape Escape instructor to be able to give all women a chance to participate in a self-defense program that could possibly prevent them from becoming a victim of sexual assault and rape. It's extremely difficult for some women to take traditional martial arts and fighting classes due to time, job and family constraints. This program allow them to learn the physical and mental tools needed to defend themselves and to gain the confidence to fight back. I have found, from a self-defense standpoint, that many women initially lack the confidence to react when forced into a situation in which they are under duress. This program will help them overcome their fears and give them the ability to fight back and alter the outcome of a potentially tragic event." "I've found the curriculum something that any woman can learn and become proficient in within a short period of time. The techniques are instinctual, and easy to retain, and are concise and to the point. The last thing a woman needs to do is to have to think about what she needs to do to defend herself under duress. It should be second nature. The techniques that are in the program will become just that, with practice. It's my opinion, that the the Rape Escape Method should without a doubt be something that all women should consider learning. I found the Instructor certification to be thorough and enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Rape Escape program to any women that I know." "In a stranger-rape situation, if he allows you to see his face, you get his name, or you can somehow otherwise identify your attacker, and he knows it, it’s all the more important to get away from him, even if he has a knife and you are risking injury. Because unless he’s quite inexperienced, he’s likely to kill you to leave no witnesses." Program a Long Time Coming "The concept of enlightening women to 'fight like girls' is a long time coming. We should have been doing this years ago. The female body is built differently and can be used effectively against a male attacker if trained properly. Defend University and the Rape Escape program have proven again and again that the Fight Like a Girl program is successful, easy to learn and easy to deliver."
