Women's Self-Defense Instructors
Instructor 3 Sean is a pro at dealing with emergencies -- he is a
Disaster Responder for the "On a personal level, I’m acquainted with several women who have experienced various levels of assault and that drives me to learn what I can to help them and other women. On a professional level, I especially enjoy teaching people to do things they are sure they can’t do, and women are raised and taught to fit exactly that description when it comes to self-defense." Sean sees many benefits to the program from an instructor's perspective. "The curriculum is unique, innovative and very well organized. I wish I’d had this knowledge when teaching women in previous classes. Also, I think it’s important for interested instructors to become a part of something greater and cooperative rather than constantly creating (or 'pirating') their own systems." "In a stranger-rape situation, if he allows you to see his face, you get his name, or you can somehow otherwise identify your attacker, and he knows it, it’s all the more important to get away from him, even if he has a knife and you are risking injury. Because unless he’s quite inexperienced, he’s likely to kill you to leave no witnesses." Program a Long Time Coming "The concept of enlightening women to 'fight like girls' is a long time coming. We should have been doing this years ago. The female body is built differently and can be used effectively against a male attacker if trained properly. Defend University and the Rape Escape program have proven again and again that the Fight Like a Girl program is successful, easy to learn and easy to deliver."
