Women's Self-Defense Instructors
Instructor 3 Deama is a driven and passionate martial arts student and
instructor who feels a duty to teach. "I wanted to become a Rape Escape instructor to give myself the opportunity to help someone. Women should know how to keep themselves safe, so I asked myself, why not be the teacher to make it so?" She says it is a sad fact of life that women are targets for predators. "Every women should understand that and have some knowledge to be able to fight back. The worst feeling is thinking you allowed your attacker to do this to you." "In a stranger-rape situation, if he allows you to see his face, you get his name, or you can somehow otherwise identify your attacker, and he knows it, it’s all the more important to get away from him, even if he has a knife and you are risking injury. Because unless he’s quite inexperienced, he’s likely to kill you to leave no witnesses." Program a Long Time Coming "The concept of enlightening women to 'fight like girls' is a long time coming. We should have been doing this years ago. The female body is built differently and can be used effectively against a male attacker if trained properly. Defend University and the Rape Escape program have proven again and again that the Fight Like a Girl program is successful, easy to learn and easy to deliver."
