Women's Self-Defense Instructors
There's plenty of power and expertise packed into Debra's small frame. Named as the 2005 Female Self-Defense Instructor Of The Year by Winning Edge Martial Arts, Debra has 25 years of martial arts experience. She has certification in Wing Chun, kickboxing and Kali from the famous Dan Inosanto and has attained a black sash in Tibetan Lama Kung Fu and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Shori Goju-Ryu. Not one to rest on her laurels, Debra is also studying Krav Maga.

"In a stranger-rape situation, if he allows you to see his face, you get his name, or you can somehow otherwise identify your attacker, and he knows it, it’s all the more important to get away from him, even if he has a knife and you are risking injury. Because unless he’s quite inexperienced, he’s likely to kill you to leave no witnesses." Program a Long Time Coming "The concept of enlightening women to 'fight like girls' is a long time coming. We should have been doing this years ago. The female body is built differently and can be used effectively against a male attacker if trained properly. "Women have the right and responsibility
to defend themselves and not be dependent on someone else for the safety of
themselves and their family," she says. "I believe that women have an
innate ability to do so, but this has been overshadowed and buried by societal
issues. I would like to help dispel the myth that being strong means that you
are any less of a woman. If you were to come upon a lioness in the jungle she
would naturally attack you with the same ferocity as her male counterpart, no
questions asked."
